I had the role and honor of creating a video on behalf of the City of Columbia and telling the story the Bhuddist Monks and their "Walk For Peace" movement. There was a large challenge on the day of the shoot, as over 5,000 people gathered in downtown Columbia, SC to witness the monks walk through the town to get to the South Carolina State House, where they would be recognized by the Honorable Mayor Daniel Rickennman, USC Women's Basketball Head Coach Dawn Staley, and other SC officials.
My biggest challenges with the shoot came when unexpected high winds disrupted the area of flight during the most important time of the coverage: the moment where the Bhuddist Monks walked across the bridge. I received multiple wind advisories on my drone, which turned into warnings to land the drone immediately because it was no longer guaranteed to function properly. I decided to take the chance and continue to fly with great caution, resulting in me capturing the beautiful moment without a hitch.
After just 3 days of posting the video, the City's Instagram reached virality, and staff was contacted by Anderson Cooper's Executive team to use the footage in their broadcast that night.
